Extension of the Transition Period for use of GRA Generated TIN for Individual Taxpayers

Extension of the Transition Period for use of GRA Generated TIN for Individual Taxpayers

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) wishes to inform the general public, especially taxpayers that the transitional period for the use of the GRA generated Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) by individual taxpayers has been extended to 31st March, 2022.

Thus, effective 1st April, 2022, only the Ghana Card Personal Identification Number (GhanaCard PIN) will be used to identify individual taxpayers for tax purposes and all other transactions that require individuals to present their TINs.

It will be recalled that on, 1st April, 2021 the GRA in line with Government’s policy commenced the use of the Ghana Card PIN as TIN for individual taxpayers.

A Self-Service Portal available on the GRA website http://myid.gra.gov.gh, enables individual taxpayers with both the Ghana Card and TIN to link their TIN to their GhanaCard PIN while new taxpayers who have Ghana Card are expected to present them when visiting any GRA office for tax transactions.

Taxpayers are however to note that the transitional period does not apply to individuals such foreign mission employees, non-resident foreigners who are currently not eligible to acquire the GhanaCard PIN as well as non-resident Ghanaians who are currently not being issued with the GhanaCard PIN.

Furthermore, new taxpayers and potential taxpayers without the Ghana Card can register for the Ghana Card at any of the following Thirty-Two (32) GRA designated offices with National Identification Authority presence:
