GRA Commences Investigations Into Allegations Of Extortion By Ashanti Region Task Force Of The Customs Division

GRA COMMENCES INVESTIGATIONS INTO ALLEGATIONS

OF EXTORTION BY ASHANTI REGION TASK FORCE OF

THE CUSTOMS DIVISION

Off Starlets ’91 Street, Accra, Thursday, 27th November, 2025, 2000GMT:

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has taken note of recent allegations

made by the Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) concerning

extortion activities allegedly carried out by some officers of the Customs

Division Task force operating in the Ashanti Region.

The allegations refer to payments reportedly made after officers

intercepted containers enroute to Kumasi, alleging undervaluation and

demanding additional payments, which the importer contested as

unjustified.

GRA wishes to inform its stakeholders, especially traders and importers

that it takes these allegations seriously and has commenced an internal

investigation into the matter to ascertain the facts. The internal

investigation will be comprehensive, and the general public will be

informed about the outcome as soon as it is concluded.

GRA remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity of

its staff and transparency in our operations to ensure accountability and

fairness. We therefore urge all stakeholders and the general public to

support these efforts by reporting such malpractices through our

established channels.
