A four-member delegation from the Tanzanian Revenue Authority paid a benchmarking visit to the Tema Collection on Friday, the 3rd of May 2024.
Their visit was to familiarise themselves with the best practices of Ghana’s Customs Laboratory and its significance in Port clearance and also help the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) in implementing its sixth Corporate plan (CP6) since July 2022.
The objective of this plan is to improve Customs operational efficiency and also help fast-track Customs clearance of goods and improve the monitoring of prohibited and restricted commodities among others, through the classification of goods.
Their quest is to learn about the Laboratory planning/set-up, its management, staffing, equipment specifications, origin cost estimates, reagents, safety and waste management and procedure manuals to guide Customs work.
And finally, the legal operating environment of the Customs Laboratory and its relations with other government agencies.
